THE TAMERA COX AWARD

Tamera Cox was an instrumental part of Petals & Pinecones, who served as Co-Chair on the Board of Directors from 2011 until her untimely death in 2015. She served in many other volunteer capacities for Petals & Pinecones in addition to her work as Secretary at Kingdom Life Church and as a social worker. She was a woman of faith who was passionate about helping young women improve their self-esteem and helping young couples strive for strong marriages, and she exemplified the utmost in high integrity and character.  We would like to honor Tamera with this award by allowing current and alumni members of Petals & Pinecones to apply for the award by completing an application. One recipient will be honored at the annual dinner with an engraved pillar and a $1,000 check, made possible by an anonymous donor.


2023 Award Winner

Dyjana Flourry-Moore was a member of P&P's Avengers7 group, which started in 2014, and even after moving to Texas several years ago, she has remained committed to P&P. Dyjana is very active in our Alumni group and never misses an opportunity to fellowship with her fellow mentees and mentors when she visits Lansing. 

2022 Award Winner

Amera Holliday, 2022 winner, who was in our 9th group, Cloud9. Amera has grown into quite an inquisitive young lady from when we met her in 2017. She was hungry for truth and knew she had to deal with the struggles she had been facing. Currently she attends Full Sail University in FL and is majoring in Graphic Design. She is currently joining the Alumni Group via zoom and we love having her. Congrats Miss Amera!

2021 Award Winner

India Brooks, 2020- 2021 Winner was in our Cloud9 group and brought so much energy and perspective to the group. She always had great questions. Here are her plans:

"I want to be an elementary school teacher. I would like to go to LCC and then transfer to Wayne State."

2019 Award Winner

Faith Moore 2019 Winner, was in the Cloud9 group that started in 2017. She was committed to learning as much as she could through this program and was such a joy to have. Here is her future plan:

"My plan is to transfer to a University maybe Grandvalley or Wayne State and get my bachelor’s in psychology. And after that hopefully, I'll get to a program for my masters. The goal is to become a high school counselor."

2018 Award Winner

Sierra M. Bouyer, Student

Sexton High School

Our 2018 Recipient, Sierra Bouyer who was in group 9, “Cloud9”. Miss Sierra has known about P&P since she was 7 years old and has always talked about how she couldn’t wait to be a part of it. She has played a huge part in this group in sharing her story, encouraging others, being positive about life’s trials and truly understanding and grasping on to the things taught in group. We are so proud of her and look forward to seeing what the Lord has in store as she navigates her way through high school.

2016 – Marisa Albarez - 2016 AWARD WINNER  

Our FIRST Tamera L. Cox Pillar Award recipient, Marisa Albarez.  Ms. Marisa participated in our 6th group, “One6NotThree”. Ms. Marisa came to P&P in 2012 as a referral by an aunt.  A very shy, hesitant young lady would grow to be able to give her testimony in front of about 96 people, she would find the confidence to read and pray out loud and be an encouragement to others in her group.  She was a committed member to the program for the 2 ½ years that she was involved. We are proud of her and all that she has achieved.

2017 – Ashley Kuykendoll - 2017 AWARD WINNER  

Our 2017, Ashley Kuykendoll.  Mrs. Ashley participated in our 3rd group, “Lotus3”. Mrs. Ashley serves on our Honorary Advisory Board and she volunteers her time with P & P throughout the year providing support for programming initiatives. She continues to strive to be a Proverbs Woman as she navigates being a mother, a wife and having a career. We are proud of her and all that she has achieved.
